Sorry for the delay...

Well it has been a while since my last blog, I am sorry. My father passed away and we have been out of town and other things.

Well here is is, we are studying Honor in our 11am Trinity KIDz ministry. It has been a great study and we are excited to see where it is headed. This week we are learning about honoring Jesus with everything we have.

Our 9:30am 4th-6th Grade class is learning about the Tabernacle. Alan and Paulette Whiting are doing a great job teaching these young boys and girls the Word of God.

AWANA Starts on September 3rd. You can register your children anytime between now and then on Sunday Mornings. You will not want to let your kids miss this ministry.

Also, check out our ministry fair happening right now through Aug 24th. Every Sunday morning in the Worship Center you can check out just about every ministry that Trinity has. If you are not involved, now is the time to get involved.

Thanks for your prayers and support over the last few months.

What a Sunday!

We had a great Sunday after the Flood. No I am not talking about the Flood in the Bible. I am talking about a just happened flood in the Children's Building at Trinity Church. On Saturday morning I arrived to the church around 8am and heard water running. I thought, "Now who is taking a shower here in the Children's Building and all the doors were locked?" Then I realized, we do not have showers in the Children's Building. I thought, "Who is power washing in the Children's Building?" Then I realized you do not power wash inside of buildings. Then it hit, broken water line, and YES! The supply line to our ice machine broke and filling up our building. Only half for the 15,000 square foot building was wet.
Thanks to many people in the church, we were able to get it under control, cleaned up and setup to dry. As of today, we have gotten the word that it is all dry and we can start putting things back in place. So the plan as of now is to have a normal Sunday this week.
Teacher, Parents and Kidz, thanks for being flexible this Sunday in how everything ran. We had a great Sunday, enjoyed an extended worship time and watch the movie, "The 10 Commandments."
We are looking forward to a great Sunday this week!!!

Another Great Sunday

Parents, Teacher and Others, we had a great Sunday. Our 11am group is learning Self-Control this month. We had some special visitors, Darth Tater, Tater Jones, Pastor Tater, Geary Tater, Chris Tater, Carrot Ta.

This group of Taters (Spuds) are going to help teach about Self-Control this month.
We are learning that the word Spud can help us in everyday life.
S-Self-Control
P-Pause
U-Understand how the decision you are bout to make will affect you and other around you.
D-Decide to do what you should do, not what you want to do!
Thanks again for letting us teach your child God's Word.

Sunday, July 6th Service update

Well I am back in town. My father is hanging in there so I came back to Covington. Please keep him and my family in your prayers.

Here is a note from our Pastor in regards to our service this weekend, July 6th.

July 3, 2008
Dear Church Family,
This Sunday, July 6th, we wrap up our "Get Smart" short series from Proverbs and Psalms. Our final topic is on the theme of marriage.

The topic comes primarily from Proverbs 5-7 on "How to Affair-Proof Your Marriage". The message is PG-13. We will tackle the topic on a frank, straight-forward manner just as you find in the wisdom literature of Proverbs.

Parents, you may want to choose to have your children in Sunday School this week because of the nature of our topic. It's your call. I just wanted you to be in a position to make the best decision for your family.

Michael

You have been warned about the Adult Service. You are more than welcome to bring your children over for Trinity Kidz Connection. You will see the service times at the bottom on the right side of the website.

Blessings!

Sunday is Coming

Good Evening Parents and Leaders.

Sunday is just around the corner. I am not going to be at Trinity this weekend because I am spending a last few days with my father.

Scott Linn is teaching our 11am service for the kids Kindergarten through 6th Grade. He is doign a specail Sunday teaching on Gen 2&3 talking about the fall of man. My son, Chris, is going to be leading worship for the kids. He does an Awesome Job! Please have your kids there on time to they can get the full course of what God has planned for them this weekend.

Each month, our 11am service for the kids Kindergarten – 6th grade, has a theme we follow. For the month of July the theme/virtue is “Self-Control.” The key verse for the month is, “A man who can’t control himself is like a city whose walls are broken down.” Proverbs 25:28. This should be a great month; we all need to learn more about self-control.

Remember, you can make an Impact in the Future by Investing in Kidz Today.

It is Monday Morning. Unlike yester morning, all is quite in the Children’s Building. There was a level of excitement I have not seen around here in my time of being here. Kids were in their VBS shirts ready to present to the VBS program in the Big People Church (Adult Worship). Everything went awesome! Why is that, because God is AWESOME! I can count on Him. Parents, thanks for bringing your kids to Sunday morning service so I could show them off a little with what we did at VBS.

Parents, Thanks again for trusting us with your kids. It is an honor to get them for such a short time each week to share God’s Word with them.

This week at Trinity KIDz will be a special week. Mr. Scott Linn is teaching the lesson for the 11am service, you will not want to miss it.

Starting in August, the 9:30, 4th-6th Grade class are starting a special series on the Tabernacle for Jesus. If you have a child is the age range, you need to make sure they are there. It will be a 12 week series that will go over every aspect of the significance of the Tabernacle. The kids will even build one in the classroom. This is a must see!

Each month, our 11am service for the kids Kindergarten – 6th grade, has a theme we follow. For the month of July the theme/virtue is “Self-Control.” The key verse for the month is, “A man who can’t control himself is like a city whose walls are broken down.” Proverbs 25:28. One More Thing!

If you are available on Friday Morning, we will be cleaning up the Children's Building. We will start around 8:30-9:00am and finish when we are done. If plenty of help shows up, it shouldn't take very long. We are putting up all of the decorations except the stage. I want to leave it up for Sunday.
If you can make, I will see you Friday!

Blessings!
Pastor Dave

It is here and gone, The Final Night.

They came excited, they left excited. Some were even disappointed. I am disappointed that the fun for the kids has come to an end. Well it doesn't have to. We have an excited Children's Ministry here at Trinity. (I am not just saying that because I am the Children's Pastor). It meets every week on Sundays at 9:30 and 11:00. For you parents we have Worship Service each time and Adult Bible Fellowships that you can enjoy.

Tonight we learned that God is Awesome! I can tell others about Jesus. We learned about the wonder of God brought down to earth: Jesus' Resurrection. And just like the disciples, we get to tell everybody that Jesus is ALIVE!

My prayer for your child is not just that they had a great time at Cosmic City, but also that they understand that our hope is not in stuff of this world, but in our faith in Jesus. If you are reading this blog and you say, "I have no idea of what you are talking about." Then come and talk with me. I would love to share the hope of Jesus with you.

We celebrated the Resurrection tonight and you can to.

My favorite Bible verse is John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Parents, one more thing... You are invited to a special Sunday Morning Highlight of our Cosmic City VBS during the Worship Service. Our service times are 9:30 & 11:00am. The Kids are going to sing the theme song and tell what they learned this week. Please have you child wear their Cosmic City VBS Shirt. If your child could stay for both services, that would be great! You can come and enjoy the first service and when we are finished up front in the 2nd service you can take your child and leave if you wish. Or you can stay for an Adult Bible Fellowship class and your child can go to another hour of Trinity Kidz Connection.

I want say, "Thank You!" to all of our volunteers. This awesome VBS could not have happened without them. You know who you are, "Thank You!" Thanks for making an impact in the Future by investing in our children Today!

I am honored that you trust us with you children.

Ready for a little rest,
Pastor Dave

Wednesday Night Cosmic City

Wednesday Night is over and the sad moment is about to come, the last night.
We had a great time tonight. We learned that God is Awesome! I can trust in Him. What a night!
Our friendly Astronaut let us take pictures with him.
We learned about Pete trusting is in Jesus as he stepped out of the boat while the other 11 disciples were scared. I pray that for our kids, that they would have a child like faith, an innocent trust in our Lord and Savior.
We were able to do the telescopes. The moon was hard to see so they got to view Saturn.
Quote of the night... One young man, who has never been to Trinity Kidz, said, "I wish we could do VBS every day of the summer." Ya! I think the kids are having a great time.
Parents, thanks for trusting us with your children.
Ready for one more "Blast Off!"

Tuesday at Cosmic City

“Blast Off to Cosmic City” is the theme song we have been singing with the kids this week. The kids were fired up tonight. We had 112 screaming, laughing, energetic kids.

We learned that God is Awesome! I can believe in Him. It was taught in every aspect of VBS tonight.

We didn’t get to do the telescopes because of the overcast sky. We are going to try it Wednesday night.

We are halfway through the week, the end is coming close. The first 120 kids on Wednesday night will get a special pair of Cosmic Space Glasses. So get your kids here early.

Getting ready to Blast Off for Wednesday Night!!!
Pastor Dave

Just look at the FUN!!!

If this doesn't show the excitement and fun, what will?

"Blast Off" to Vacation Bible School

It is early Tuesday morning. The dew is burning off the grass, trees and my motorcycle. The sun is shining brightly cutting through the trees and leaves like laser beams from a cosmic city. And I pray we have 108 tired kids totally worn out after an “Awesome” night of Vacation Bible School.
Parents and Leaders, our first night was great. We had zero, I will repeat, “Zero” issues last night. The kids were excited, the leaders were charged and I was beside myself with everyone desiring to serve in the phenomenal event.
Parents and Leaders, Weather permitting tonight, Tuesday directly after VBS, we will have several telescopes setup in our playground areas for you and your child to observe the stars and moon. The Moon will be at its fullest on Tuesday night, so if the weather cooperates, this will be a neat experience. Parents or the responsible party will need to accompany the Kids.
Remember, tonight at 6:30pm the fun begins again. Your children can bring friends, cousins, neighbors or people they do not even know. We want to share God’s Word with everyone.
Last night the kids learned that God is Awesome! I can count on Him. And tonight they are going to learn that God is Awesome! I can believe in Him. Do not let your kids miss this one.
Every night your child attends VBS, they will receive a glow in the dark verse planet. For the kids who come all four nights, they will receive a bonus glow in the dark verse planet. If you bring a guest in the middle of the week, it will be like they have been there all the nights before and will receive a glow in the dark verse planet for the nights they missed and will still qualify for the bonus at the end! I hope that makes sense, if not, find me and I will explain.
Thanks for trusting us with you child. My goal is to make an impact in the Future by investing in kids Today!
Counting Down till Blast Off Tonight!
Pastor Dave!

AWANA Awards Night...

Last night was our AWANA Awards Ceremony. It was a blessing to all the hard work for this year come to a close. Kids were encouraged and excited to receive their awards. Thousands of Bible verses were memorized this year. 7 Kidz accepted Christ. Many lives were changed in many other ways. Our God is good!
I am sure Jesus would say, "Well Done, My good and faithful servant." Our KIDz have nothing to be ashamed of.
Workers, thanks for your faithful service. "Thanks" for making AWANA a success at Trinity.
Laurie Hunter, Good Job! No! Great Job! "Thanks" again for all you do!
We look forward to 2008-09 and what Gos will bring our way.

Easter Service for Trinity KIDZ

The Easter Service was a great success. Thanks to all the people who helped to make it happen. A ministry team who was down here for the Compassion Ministry help bring everything together. We could not have done it with out them.
Suzanne did a great job getting all the details together. Teachers had a huge amount of patience as we made this day happen.
Our 5th and 6th Grade girls class taught the lesson of the Resurrection Eggs. They clearly explained what each egg and the item inside of the egg meant to the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
After they were done there was not much left to say, so I closed it up with the plan of salvation taught from John 3:16.
The day was a success, thanks for God's grace in using imperfect people to deliver a perfect message.
"Thank You Lord!"

Baptism Class

Dear Parent,
This letter is to inform you that we have a Baptism Service coming up on April 20th. It is important to teach our children that after accepting Christ as their personal Savior the next step is Baptism. We teach here at Trinity Church that baptism is not a form of salvation but the next step of obedience in becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ. It is a New Believers public testimony stating that they now believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior.

If your child has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and has never taken the step to be baptized, this would be a great time to encourage them to step forward for baptism.

If your child desires to be baptized, I need to meet with them before April 20th. The purpose of meeting with them is to hear about their salvation story and to make sure they understand what baptism is all about. I will have a Children’s Baptism Meeting on April 6th & 13th directly after the 11am service in the FDC room 6.

Please email or call to confirm the date you and your child will attend.

In His Service…

Father/Son Campout

Well, I went to the Father/Son Camp out at Bill Magee's place. It was absolutely AWESOME. Men brought out their 4 wheelers, canoes, jet skies and a ski boat. The boys had an absolutely great time. The only thing that could have been better for me was to have my son there. He had a prior engagement.
I took a couple of boys whose father had to work. Everything was well for them except they said they had a hard time sleeping with all of my snoring. I told them it was to keep the wild animals away. I didn't think I snored to bad but a guy in a tent about 40 yards away complained about the noise form our tent.
I will most definitely go next year. It was neat to see the boys just get out and have a great time in a safe environment.
I want to thank Scott for making me go, even at the last minute.
We used an emergency road flare as a campfire. We called it our intercity bonfire.
Have a great day!!!
